Project Details
HMP Sudbury is a category D open prison that is currently being expanded to increase capacity by at least 80 beds. A new accommodation block and multi-faith building are to be constructed with some existing buildings being demolished.
As part of this project, Advanced Utilities partnered with JPR Group to complete the service diversions as part of the enabling works of construction. Advanced Utilities played a key role in identifying existing services and re-routing to new locations. Identifying and understanding existing services presented a challenge to the project due to the lack of as-built information. We worked with JPR and the MOJ to find solutions in identifying services through trial excavations and in-depth investigations which generated a more up-to-date knowledge of the existing external services for the client.
On this project, we completed all excavations, chambers, mains laying, duct installation, and, importantly, completed all connections under live conditions to minimise disruption to the client.
